Paralympian Jerrold Mangliwan enters men's 400m final in Paralympics
Jerrold Mangliwan has advanced to the men's 400 meter T52 final at the Paralympics after narrowly securing his spot in the event. Competing in Heat 1, Mangliwan clocked a time of 1:05.79, finishing in fourth place.
While only the top three finishers automatically qualified for the final, Mangliwan earned his place as one of the two fastest athletes outside the top three, along with Canada's Anthony Bouchard, who finished with a time of 1:05.98.
Belgium’s Maxime Carabin led Heat 1 with a time of 54.48 seconds, setting a new Paralympic record, surpassing the previous record held by Japan’s Tomoki Sato. Switzerland’s Fabian Blum and Mexico’s Salvador Hernandez Mondragon secured second and third places in the same heat.
In Heat 2, Japan’s Tomoki Sato and Tomoya Ito, along with Mexico’s Leonardo de Jesus Perez Juarez, were the top three finishers, with Sato clocking 58.04 seconds.
