New Angola international airport receives first experimental flight

Luanda’s Agostinho Neto International Airport received Friday, June 17, 2022, the first experimental flight to mark the 18-month certification process of this infrastructure.
Angola’s Flag Carrier TAAG Boeing 777, which took off from “04 de Fevereiro” Airport, landed at António Agostinho Neto International Airport, located in Bom Jesus (Luanda), at 1:00 pm.
The goal is to determine whether the project complied with the international rules for the construction of an airport of the kind and if there are technical personnel to operate in an aerodrome of that size.
The certification process is carried out by a specialised team and will have the support of some relevant bodies, such as the ICAL – International Civil Aviation Organisation itself, which is the highest certification body in international civil aviation.
The certification process will extend until 2023.
Located in Bom Jesus, in the municipality of Icolo e Bengo, the new Luanda International Airport, named after the first President of the Republic of Angola, was designed to receive 15 million passengers a year. Read More...
