The 10 best tracks released today
Here’s a rundown of new releases on DSPs and physical releases in record shops this week.
HAAi – Baby, We’re Ascending
Debut album of “techno, house, drum n bass, downtempo and pop leaning electro” from producer, DJ and singer Teneil Throssell features Jon Hopkins, Alexis Taylor, Moxie, Obi Franky as well as the spoken word poet and trans visibility activist Kai Isaiah Jamal.
Just Mustard – Heart Under
The second album from Dundalk five-piece moves the band into further noise-rock territory. It’s their first album release on Partisan Records.
Throughout recording at Attica Studios in Donegal, the band discussed the idea of wanting the listener to feel like they’re on a train going through a tunnel. “This album felt very blue to us,” singer Katie Ball explains. “There was sadness and sorrow in the album, and it felt like being underwater and under something very heavy. We let that influence the music, but it wasn’t a decision – it just naturally happened that way.”
Rosie Carney – i wanna be happy
London based Donegal singer-songwriter’s second full-length album comes after 2019’s Bare.
Wallis Bird – Hands
Seventh studio album from the German-based Irish singer-songwriter. ‘I Lose Myself Completely’.
lullahush – A City Made of Water and Small Love
Irish producer Dan McIntyre’s debut album of glitchy electronic music serves as a homage to Dublin, its idiosyncrasies and fleeting moments of nostalgia. Inspirations are wide – Leonard Cohen, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Colleen, Mica Levi and Floating Points.
Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith & Emile Mosseri – I Could Be Your Dog / I Could Be Your Moon
Two-part collaborative LP between two artists made with synthesizers, voice, and piano.
Alfie Templeman – Mellow Moon
19 year old artist’s debut album of pop and indie tones on Chess Club Records/AWAL.
