New social housing concept in Vienna to help single parents
Today, authorities in Vienna announced that next week they will start allocating new social housing apartments. The housing project, located on the site of the former ‘Wolfganggasse’ depot in Vienna-Meidling, is in its final stages of construction.
Local authorities will implement a new special single parent scheme that offers apartments with a special layout for applicants. When finished, it will have more than 100 apartments, housing around 2,000 people.
Future concepts for social housing
Most of the 105 apartments are sized between 46 and 55 square metres and each one of them is equipped with a balcony. They also have bike racks with total storage space for 230 bicycles, buggy storage facilities on every floor and underground parking for 63 cars.
At the same time, nearly half of all units have been specifically designed to accommodate single parents. The apartments have a unique layout, offering a bedroom, living room and playroom.
