Number of Tourist Overnight Stays in Finland Increased by 25% in February 2023 Compared to 2022
The number of nights spent by tourists in Finland last February was 23 per cent higher compared to February 2022, according to data provided by Statistics Finland.
The same source has revealed that as for resident tourists, they registered a total of 1.20 million overnight stays in the country, thus marking an increase of 17 per cent more than in February of a year ago, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.
Meanwhile, non-resident tourists recorded 0.56 million overnight stays, which is 46 per cent more compared to last year. Statistics Finland also shows that the number of nights spent by foreigners was eight per cent lower than in February 2020.
The annual report of the Statistics of Finland for the year 2021 revealed that during this period, fewer overnight stays by tourists were recorded, thus slowing down the recovery of the country.
According to these data, the number of nights spent by tourists in this country fell by nine per cent from 2.2 million registered in 2020 to just over two million in 2021.
In addition, out of two million overnight stays recorded in Finland, the United Kingdom contributed the most tourists, or a total of 268,282, followed by Germany with 257,836 and Sweden with 170,523. Read More…
