Opposition will choose primary commission among more than 80 candidates
The Venezuelan opposition grouped in the Unitarian Platform received more than 80 candidacies from citizens interested in forming the commission that will govern the primary process, from which the name of who faces the ruling party in the presidential elections, scheduled for 2024, will come out.
In a statement, the opposition alliance recalled that the application process closed on October 15, after an extension of 15 days, and that "soon" they will present the names of the 10 people who will govern this commission in charge of standardizing and convening these internal elections.
"We have received more than 80 applications and we are in an extensive evaluation and consultation process with all the organizations that have expressed their interest in being part of the process to soon present Venezuelans with a National Primary Commission made up of 10 Venezuelans of recognized prestige. and moral solvency," stressed the opposition.
According to the regulations that will govern the primary elections, released this Wednesday, this commission will be made up of five main members and their respective alternates and the decisions will be adopted "by a majority of four votes of the main members", except in cases where unanimity is required.
