Over a hundred trees from a beautiful linden avenue to be cut. This is how the commune and the starosty want to renovate the road in Ustronie Morskie
Kolejowa Street allows you to enter Ustronie Morskie from the national road No. 11. It is a narrow road with old lime trees on both sides. Hence the common name of this street: linden avenue.
Linden alley in Ustronie Morskie
Kolejowa Street requires renovation. Both the inhabitants, councilors and the head of the commune, who wants the investment to start next year, agree with this. The owner of the road is the poviat and the starosty will be the investor if he manages to obtain funding from government money.
However, the inhabitants of Ustronie Morskie were electrified by the information that the renovation will involve cutting down old trees. This was the result of the information provided by the road designer, presented at a meeting with residents at the end of May. Therefore, a social dialogue committee for shaping greenery and nature protection was formed. The commission sent a letter to the starost of Kołobrzeg, in which it emphasizes the natural and ecological values of the linden alley. It emphasizes that the local spatial development plan states that "tree avenues of special natural values must be preserved", and the avenue itself along Kolejowa Street is entered into the municipal register of monuments.
“The Lipowa Avenue at the entrance to Ustronie Morskie is a showpiece welcoming residents and guests of the commune. Kolejowa Street is one of the four access roads to the town, however, taking into account the nearest exits from the S6 expressway, it has lost the title of the main access road to ul. Polna and ul. Agricultural. Difficulties in passing cars due to the width of the road occur when lorries and buses pass. This problem can be solved without interfering with the width by improving the road surface and setting a prohibition sign for vehicles over 3.5 tons (excluding deliveries to shops). Improvement in the passage of ul. Kolejowa will be ensured by an effective ban on parking cars between trees near the intersection with ul. BolesÅ‚aw Chrobry through the use of posts or decorative boulders. The condition of the trees at ul. Kolejowa does not indicate the need to cut them. However, without proper care of any tree by keeping the ditches cleared, pruning cuts in the crown, proper earthworks during the construction of driveways to the site, etc., even the healthiest ones can be destroyed "- we read in the letter sent to the staroste.
Trees interfere with renovation
On Tuesday [July 12], at the request of Bernadeta Borkowska, mayor of Ustronie Morskie, an extraordinary session of the commune council was convened. The councilors were to consent to the mayor signing an agreement with the Kołobrzeg starost, aimed at renovating Kolejowa Street. However, the councilors did not know the content of the agreement before the session.
- The commune's contribution to this investment is the preparation of design documentation - said Sylwia Halama, deputy mayor of the Ustronie Morskie commune. - The construction works will be financed by the poviat with the participation of external funds. In the event that the poviat does not receive such funding, it will apply for it next year to start the investment in 2024.
The deputy mayor announced that due to numerous protests of residents, the office proposes to divide the investment into two stages. The agreement with the poviat would apply only to the first of them - on the section of Kolejowa Street from the intersection with Rolna to the intersection with Słoneczna. Along this stretch of road it grows around 30 Jul. The rest - with a much larger number of trees - will not be renovated.
- The poviat wants to carry out the first stage of renovation thanks to funds from the Local Government Roads Fund, and there are strictly defined parameters there - said Sylwia Halama. - Deviations from these guidelines will prevent us from receiving funding. The residents have repeatedly articulated their will to preserve the linden avenue. Therefore, we hope that the National Reconstruction Plan will include programs that will allow the preservation of old trees and the renovation of the second part of the road. Read More…
