Parties spend 311,000 francs on a by-election in Schwyz
In the Canton of Schwyz, the Transparency Act celebrated its premiere in the government council elections last autumn. The four parties spent CHF 311,000 on the election campaign, most of which was the FDP. Transparency rules are also being used for the first time in National Council elections.
In the first ballot of the Schwyz government council election on September 25, Xaver Schuler (SVP) made it into the government, in the run-off Damian Meier (FDP) prevailed against Ursula Lindauer (GLP). Patrick Notter (SP) did not compete.
For the first time, the candidates had to declare their vested interests and disclose the financing of the election campaigns. The Schwyz State Chancellery published the final accounts on Wednesday. Overall, the four parties declared expenditure of 311,000 francs.
With a total of 143,700 francs, the FDP had the highest expenditure in the two ballots. The GLP, which also fought two election campaigns, had the smallest budget of all parties at CHF 53,000. The SVP used 55,000 francs, the SP 63,000 francs. Read More…
