Peruvian inventor creates vehicle that protects motorcyclists from serious damage in an accident
The new “Squid Bike” hybrid system vehicle -created by Jonathan Bulnes, an Industrial Design student at the Universidad Privada del Norte (UPN)- helps reduce fuel use and has an anti-tip system that protects the driver from serious damage before an accident.
The researcher from the Universidad Privada del Norte (UPN) explained that the vehicle allows human power to alternate with an electric motor, reducing fuel use and keeping its displacement constant on the track.
With two national victories in South American championships in the last couple of years, sports motorcycling is gaining more and more interest in the country and the use of safety devices that promote access and development of this sport is necessary, Bulnes recalled.
The design reproduces the shape of a squid and has a 360° roll-over system , located at its extremities, which activates when it detects a sudden change in speed or vibration and generates a safety frame, protecting the pilot from serious consequences in the event of an accident. .
The invention has toroidal structure tires creating resistance to strong impacts and the side parts of the vehicle can be removed improving the aerodynamics of the device and protecting the driver from bad weather. Read More…
