Poor care, excessive costs, reception conditions in hospitals: Advocacy for reforms
Members of the “Patients in Danger” Collective and activists point the finger at the government of Senegal over the poor state of hospitals. They expect state and hospital authorities to reform the health sector. “We must not be in the wrong fight by throwing all the doctors into food. It is health that is in danger. All the parties should be around the table for the reforms in the health sector to be carried out. More than 811 billion were invested between 2017 and 2018 within the framework of the budget of the Ministry of Health, not counting the 1000 billion deployed during Covid-19. This is unacceptable,” laments MP Marème Soda Ndiaye.
The collective remains mobilized to demand justice for Astou Sokhna and all other similar cases. It "invites" all users to denounce any form of injustice and mistreatment experienced in health establishments. “We call on all citizens to demand greater accountability from governments for an adequate public service offer that respects human dignity,” says Gahëls Babacar Mbaye, who recalls that the Constitution of Senegal, both in its preamble and in its title 2, establishes the right of respect for the citizen as the basis of Senegalese society.
