Portugal Stocks Higher at Close of Trade; PSI Up 0.78%
Portugal's stock market closed higher on Tuesday, with the PSI index gaining 0.78% as positive performances in the Industrials, Consumer Services, and Utilities sectors drove shares upward.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI index recorded a gain, reflecting a generally optimistic trading session. The standout performers included CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI:CTT), which rose 2.69% or 0.16 points to trade at 6.11, marking a five-year high. Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA) also saw a notable increase, adding 2.11% or 0.06 points to end at 2.90. Additionally, EDP Renováveis (ELI:EDPR) was up 1.87% or 0.17 points, closing at 9.01.
On the downside, the worst performers included Corticeira Amorim (ELI:CORA), which fell 0.36% or 0.03 points to trade at 8.42. Ibersol SGPS (ELI:IBS) declined 0.24% or 0.02 points, ending at 8.44, while Altri SGPS SA (ELI:ALSS) saw a slight increase of 0.09% or 0.01 points, closing at 5.79.
Overall, rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange, with 20 stocks advancing, 6 declining, and 5 remaining unchanged.
In commodities, Brent oil for April delivery rose 0.62% or 0.47 to $76.43 a barrel. Conversely, crude oil for March delivery fell 0.23% or 0.17 to $72.99 a barrel. The April Gold Futures contract increased by 0.48% or 13.59, trading at $2,870.69 per troy ounce.
In the currency markets, the EUR/USD pair was unchanged at 1.04, while the EUR/GBP remained stable at 0.83. The US Dollar Index Futures decreased by 0.89%, settling at 107.91.
