Bulgarian Stocks Mostly Grow, Turnover Jumps on Bonds Trading
On Tuesday, the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) saw positive movement, with three of its five indices recording gains. The blue-chip SOFIX index rose by 0.40%, closing at 889.31 points, driven by notable performances from several companies.
The increase in SOFIX was largely attributed to a 2.16% rise in Chimimport [BUL:CHIM], which traded at 0.71 levs, and a 1.72% gain in Shelly Group [BUL:SLYG; ETR:SLYG], which reached 35.40 euros. These companies also contributed to the BGTR30 index, which tracks companies with a free float of at least 10% and saw a 0.43% increase to 858.72 points. The index was further bolstered by a 4.44% jump in Stara Planina Hold [BUL:SPH], which closed at 9.40 levs.
The BGBX40 index, which monitors the 40 most traded shares on the Sofia bourse, added 0.55% to reach 171.20 points, benefiting from the gains in Stara Planina, Chimimport, and Shelly, along with an 8.74% surge in Synergon Holding [BUL:SNRG], which traded at 1.12 levs.
In contrast, the BGREIT index, which tracks seven real estate investment trusts, experienced a slight decline of 0.07%, closing at 214.49 points. This drop was influenced by a 1.47% decrease in Bulgarian Real Estate Fund REIT [BUL:BREF], which traded at 4.02 levs.
The BEAMX index, which focuses on the ten most highly capitalized growth companies, fell by 0.25% to 98.42 points, primarily due to a 7.89% slump in Sin Cars Industry [BUL:SIN], which closed at 0.35 levs.
Total turnover on the main market of the Sofia bourse surged to 3.89 million levs (approximately $2.04 million or 1.99 million euros) on Tuesday, a significant increase from 843,282 levs on Monday, largely driven by substantial trading in bonds.
Industrial Holding Bulgaria [BUL:IHB] emerged as the most liquid stock of the day, generating 42,968 levs from the exchange of 25,275 shares, closing flat at 1.70 levs.
Overall, the positive performance of the Bulgarian stock market reflects a robust trading environment, with significant activity in both equities and bonds.
