Belgrade Bourse BELEX15 Closes Flat, Dunav Sole Blue-Chip Gainer
The blue-chip index of the Belgrade Stock Exchange, the BELEX 15, closed nearly unchanged on Monday, with a slight decline of 0.02%, finishing at 1,128.09 points. The only blue-chip gainer for the day was Dunav Osiguranje [BEL:DNOS], which rose by 0.22% to close at 1,379 dinars after 160 shares changed hands.
In contrast, Jedinstvo [BEL:JESV], a construction company, experienced a decline of 1.48%, closing at 8,000 dinars with a trade volume of just ten shares. Messer Tehnogas [BEL:TGAS], an industrial gases producer, also saw a minor loss of 0.02%, ending the day at 34,000 dinars with only three shares traded. No other blue-chip companies were active on Monday.
Outside the blue-chip segment, Jugoprevoz Krusevac [BEL:JGPK], a transport firm, closed flat at 8,000 dinars but generated the largest single turnover of the day, amounting to 75.8 million dinars from the trading of 9,472 shares. On Friday, Jugoprevoz announced that it had not sold any of its 9,472 treasury shares, which represent a 12.44% stake in the company, during its pro rata offer to existing shareholders. The company indicated that if the shares remain unsold, it may consider selling them to third parties, using them in a takeover bid, or canceling them.
The broader BELEXline, a free-float market capitalization-weighted index, fell by 0.06%, closing at 2,434.78 points.
Total turnover on the Belgrade bourse increased significantly to 84.6 million dinars (approximately $744,521 or 721,502 euros) on Monday, up from 11.7 million dinars on Friday. Trading in government securities contributed about 2.4 million dinars to the total turnover, compared to 5 million dinars on Friday.
