Protein for good heart health

Based on the statistics of the World Health Organization (WHO), 17.5 million people die annually as a result of cardiovascular diseases.

The heart works as a pump that delivers blood rich in oxygen and nutrients to all organs, tissues and cells in the body via arterial blood vessels. Blood from the heart is taken up by the largest artery in the body - the aorta, which has special branches for the head and neck, heart, liver, intestines, kidneys and lower extremities.

Unfortunately, people around the world do not take care of their heart and blood vessels, so the situation has become alarming.

Numerous studies suggest that replacing high-fat meats with heart-healthy proteins, such as fish, beans, poultry, nuts, and low-fat dairy products, may help prevent cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

The nutrients in these forms of protein can help lower cholesterol levels and blood pressure, but they can also help you maintain an adequate body weight.

By choosing these proteins over high-fat meats, you can reduce your risk of heart attack and stroke.

Eating more fish and nuts is associated with a significantly lower risk of developing heart disease.

One serving of nuts per day is associated with a 30 percent lower risk of developing heart disease compared to one serving of red meat per day, according to a recent study.

Eating one serving of fish per day was associated with a 24 percent lower risk of developing these diseases, and low-fat poultry and dairy products were associated with a 19 percent and 13 percent lower risk, respectively. Read More…
