Samia lays accent on fee- free education

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has said the government will continue implementing its countrywide plan of providing education without fees in primary and secondary schools.
The development comes after the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) on Thursday announced abolition of examination fees for Standard Seven, Form Four and Six candidates.
The statement issued by NECTA indicated that the examination fees were removed for government schools only, stressing that candidate from private schools will continue to pay.
“We continue to implement the plan of providing education without fees in our government schools by abolishing the examination fees for Form Four and Six candidates.
This will bring relief for more than 300,000 candidates a year, mostly from low-income families.” President Samia said on her official verified Twitter account.
In the course, the Head of State said, the move goes hand in hand with the government’s efforts in constructing more schools across the country, as well as improving the curriculum and welfare of teachers. Read More…
