Siliana: A Million Trees to Flourish in Three Years
Through a fruitful collaboration with various sectors of civil society and the regional forest directorate in Siliana, the "Clean up" association has successfully planted over 250,000 trees since 2019, as confirmed by Houcem Hamdi, the association's president.
In an interview with TAP, Hamdi revealed that the planted trees encompass a variety of species, including Aleppo pine, carob, and eucalyptus. These selections are based on the unique characteristics of the land and the ecological system of the locality. The association's endeavors commenced in 2019, focusing on the Sidi Ameur area within the Siliana-Sud delegation, as well as the Bou Abdallah locality under the Kesra delegation.
Hamdi further expressed the association's ambitious goal of establishing one million trees within the Siliana governorate and an astounding twelve million trees across Tunisia within a three-year timeframe. Sabri Oualani, the president of the regional forest district in Siliana, echoed this objective and proudly announced that the association's members have successfully reforested 60 hectares of the forest area, which were reclaimed during the Tree Festival.
Additionally, it is worth noting that several constituents of civil society will join forces this Sunday for a reforestation campaign in Djebel Bargou. This noble initiative aims to rehabilitate areas that have been damaged by summer fires.
