Sindh Government Annuls All Examinations in Light of Cyclone Biparjoy
The Sindh government has made the decision to cancel all examinations due to the impending arrival of the Very Severe Cyclonic System (VSCS) named Biparjoy. This cyclone is projected to make landfall between Karachi and India's Gujarat on Thursday.
In light of this situation, Assistant Commissioner Abid Qamar Shaikh of Karachi has issued a notification stating that all exams, educational seminars, summer camps, and other educational activities will be canceled or rescheduled from the 14th of June 2023 until the storm subsides. The purpose of this measure is to prevent any loss of human life and minimize inconvenience to the general public.
The notification highlights that the cyclone is anticipated to impact the coastal areas of Karachi Division, bringing heavy rainfall and storms to the city. The latest advisory from the Pakistan Meteorologist Department (PMD) indicates that the cyclone has shifted further north-northwestward over the past six hours.
Currently, Biparjoy is located approximately 410km south of Karachi, 400km south of Thatta, with its coordinates at Latitude 21.2°N and Longitude 66.6°E.
