The Korea Football Association (KFA) has filed an official complaint to FIFA concerning an alleged racist remark directed at Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Hwang Hee-chan during a pre-season match against Italian club Como in Spain.

During the match, an unnamed Como player reportedly made the remark "ignore him, he thinks he’s Jackie Chan," which was interpreted as a racial slur by Hwang and his teammates. Como defended their player, claiming that the comment was a harmless reference to Hwang's nickname "Channy," used frequently by his own teammates.
In an official letter to FIFA sent on Thursday, the KFA highlighted the severity of the issue, emphasizing the need for action to eradicate racism in football. The association's statement on their official X account (formerly known as Twitter) underscored their demand for FIFA to address and eliminate racial discrimination on the soccer field.
Following the incident, Hwang Hee-chan took to Instagram to share his experience, mentioning the strong support he received from the coaching staff and his teammates. He stated that they were ready to leave the field with him if necessary, underlining the team's united stance against racism. Hwang’s post has garnered significant attention, with over 143,500 likes, demonstrating widespread support for the anti-racism cause.
Wolves head coach Gary O'Neil has affirmed the club’s full support for Hwang, reinforcing their zero-tolerance policy towards racism. On the other hand, Como maintains that the remark was misunderstood and insists that it was not intended to be derogatory.
