Spider-Man movies in order

We will sort Spider-Man movies in order of their respected universes, but also, how you should watch them before No Way Home, which actually brings them all together, to some extent.

Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man Trilogy

Sam Raimi first started directing Spider-Man movies with Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker. It could be said that those Spider-Man movies started this golden age of superhero movies we currently live in. They were also hugely successful and have a huge fan base all over the world even today.

Spider-Man (2002)

Student Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) is bitten by a genetically modified spider. Peter soon discovers that he possesses extraordinary powers: he is gifted with the power and abilities of spiders with particularly sharpened spider senses.

Meanwhile, megalomaniac businessman, Norman Osborn (Willem Dafoe) is also going through some unusual changes. The experimental formula exploded in his face, increasing his intelligence and strength, but at the same time driving him crazy. He becomes the Green Goblin, Spider-Man’s greatest enemy, who will put Peter Parker’s vow to fight crime and help the innocent to the ultimate test.

Spider-Man 2 (2004)

After two years since he was bitten by a radioactive spider, Peter Parker / Spider-man (Tobey Maguire) is facing new challenges, reconciling his “gift and curse”. As a college student, tormented by his secret, he discovers that relationships with all those dear to him are in danger if they find out his secret identity. Parker’s longing for Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst) grows stronger as he struggles with the urge to reveal his other face to her and declare his love for her.

Friendship with Harry Osborne (James Franco) is eroded by Harry’s desire to avenge his father and destroy Spider-Man. Even his aunt May (Rosemary Harris), devastated after her husband’s death, harbors suspicions about her nephew Peter. Things get even more complicated when he is confronted by a new villain, Dr. Otto Octavius - Doc Ock (Alfred Molina), a man who can use a neuro-chip in his head to control mechanical grips on his back.

Spider-Man 3 (2007)

When Peter’s (Tobey Maguire) suit suddenly changes color and heightens his powers, he too changes, showing his dark and vengeful side that he is trying to control. Under the influence of the suit, he becomes overconfident and begins to neglect the people he loves the most.

Forced to choose between the alluring powers of a new suit and the compassionate hero he once was, he must defeat personal demons as his two worst enemies, Sandman and Venom, combine their powers and a desire for revenge that threatens Peter and all he loves.

Marc Webb’s Spider-Man Duology

Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man movies are a reboot of Sam Raimi’s trilogy. Andrew Garfield stars as Peter Parker in these two movies. Unfortunately, it hasn’t earned enough at the box office to justify making a trilogy. Again, it is good to watch these two movies before watching No Way Home.

The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

This is the story of Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), an insecure high school student who was abandoned by his parents as a child and left to Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) and Aunt May (Sally Field). Like other teenagers, Peter tries to find himself, but also to discover more about his family. When he finds a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins to understand the circumstances that led to his parents’ disappearance.

This brings him directly to the Oscorp Corporation and the laboratory of Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans), his father’s former partner. Peter will soon have to make big decisions that will shape his destiny and make him a hero. Read More…
