Split Summer Festival Celebrates 70th Anniversary with 54 Events Across 16 Venues
The 70th edition of the Split Summer Festival is set to dazzle audiences from 15 July to 14 August, offering a rich program of 54 events spread across 16 venues in Split, Vrlika, and Kaštel Gomilica. This milestone celebration promises a diverse array of performances and cultural experiences.
Opening Ceremony:
- Carmina Burana Opera: The festival will kick off with a grand performance of "Carmina Burana" at the iconic Peristil in the heart of Split on 15 July.
Opera Highlights:
- Revival Performances: The festival will feature beloved operas such as "Aida" and "Ero the Joker."
- Grand Gala Concert: A spectacular gala concert at the Meštrović Gallery will serve as a fitting culmination of the opera schedule.
Ballet Performances:
- Madame Bovary: Choreographer Valentina Turcu will present a fresh interpretation of "Madame Bovary," with performances scheduled for 2 and 3 August.
Drama Premieres:
- Judita: Dražen Krešić’s play commemorates the 500th anniversary of Marko Marulić’s death.
- Stories from the Ferry: A collaborative drama by Anica Tomić, Jelena Kovačić, and Ivor Martinić, performed by 20 actors from the Croatian National Theatre Split.
Additional Events:
- Concerts: The festival will feature a wide range of musical performances, from solo artists to full orchestras.
