Telstra and Ericsson partner on suite of 5G SA services for enterprises
Australia’s Telstra and Swedish vendor Ericsson have announced a suite of upcoming 5G Standalone (SA) automated and orchestrated services for enterprises. In what the two companies claimed was a world first, they have deployed an automated standards-based network slicing service orchestration capability in Telstra’s commercial network using Ericsson Orchestration and Ericsson Inventory. Meanwhile, Telstra is also reported to have successfully deployed the Ericsson Local Packet Gateway in its commercial 5G network; this solution’s data localisation is said to allow customers to take advantage of edge computing in virtual and hybrid 5G private network environments, while delivering efficient use of bandwidth, data security, low latency, and creating a more efficient network overall.
Commenting, Shailin Sehgal, Executive, Product Enablement Technology, Telstra, noted: ‘In the past it took a long time to deploy and scale new service constructs in our network. Now, with 5G’s service-based architecture combined with automation via network orchestration, we are able to work with our customers to imagine and deploy new differentiated services quickly and scale them economically. We have been working with Ericsson to bring these new innovations to our enterprise customers for several years and these latest world and Australian first capabilities are another example of this collaboration.’ Read More…
