Last night, the 29th Festival of European Film in Palić was officially opened on the crowded Summer Stage. The mayor of Subotica, Stevan Bakić, wished filmmakers and guests a welcome to the world of the seventh art, which brings the film spirit of Europe to Subotica for the 29th time. On that occasion, he pointed out that it was an extraordinary honor for him to greet those present on behalf of the City of Subotica, for which this festival is a special treasure and joy.
"Tonight we are opening its 29th edition, but we are also exactly three decades from its beginnings, when in 1992, the area of ​​the old Summer Stage in Palić became a film shrine for the first time. In the most difficult time, cultural leaders got together and started a festival of hope for art and a better tomorrow. Tonight, for that brave and visionary act, I express my special thanks to the then director of the Open University in Subotica, Blaž Perović, and the director of the festival, Mr. Radoslav Zelenović, emphasized Stevan Bakić.
During thirty years, Bakić reminded, dedicated organizers only once failed to overcome adversity and hold the festival. That is why we will celebrate its thirtieth jubilee edition next year. Read More…
