A compact truck, featuring a unique "balcony" display of artworks, will showcase a concert by the passionate singer-songwriter Matej Tále and an exhibition featuring several artists.
Once again, this year, the mobile art gallery embarks on a journey to the lesser-explored corners of Slovakia, bridging the gap between art, culture, and music in places where other artists seldom venture. "Traveling in a compact truck, we visit schools, orphanages, and festivals across different regions of Slovakia, offering concert tours, exhibitions, and workshops," shared Juraj Čarný, the project's author and curator. "Our aim is to combat misinformation and emphasize the importance of cultivating critical thinking, especially among young people who are frequently exposed to manipulations, hoaxes, and half-truths on social media," he elaborated.
The unique truck, with its "balcony" showcasing art, will host a concert by the dedicated singer-songwriter Matej Tále and an exhibition featuring renowned artists like Luchezar Boyadjiev, Ladislav Čarný, Aldo Giannotti, Lukáš Houdek, Daniela Krajčová, and Ivana Šáteková. "We will commence our journey in Vranov nad Topľou and conclude it at the Atmosféra festival in Hontianske Nemce. Along the way, we plan to visit approximately 20 schools, six festivals, and several regional cultural centers," added Čarný. The project not only presents socially engaged art but also raises awareness about pressing social issues, fosters discussions, and brings experiences to children in foster homes and individuals from marginalized communities.
Established in 2007, the mobile art gallery has dedicated its efforts since 2017 to socially engaged topics such as the refugee crisis, combating racism, xenophobia, and extremism, and promoting tolerance for minorities (2019). It addressed the blockade of extremism in 2020 and, since 2021, has focused on fighting misinformation. "In 2022, the gallery made its presence known in Poland and is currently preparing for a performance at the Boskovice Festival in the Czech Republic. With a total of 80,079 attendees, including exhibitions, concerts, and workshops, the Traveling Gallery has covered 23,791 kilometers within Slovakia," concluded Čarný.
