The New People Party has nominated Deputy Speaker of the State Duma, Vladislav Davankov, as their candidate for the upcoming mayoral election in Moscow.
According to Alexei Nechaev, the leader of the New People party, Vladislav Davankov, who currently serves as the Deputy Speaker of the State Duma, will be their official candidate for the position of Moscow's mayor. Nechaev made this announcement during a party conference.
The New People party will be holding a conference on Friday, where various matters, including the upcoming mayoral elections, will be discussed.
Scheduled for September, the Moscow mayoral elections have a budget allocation of approximately 1.26 billion rubles. The incumbent mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, has not yet declared his intention to seek re-election.
However, Russian President Vladimir Putin has acknowledged Sobyanin's significant efforts in creating a comfortable environment for residents and visitors of the city. Putin further stated that if Sobyanin continues this positive trajectory, the people of Moscow will support him in future elections.
