Thirteen festivals and events in Gloucestershire in 2023 to look forward to
From the Cheltenham Festival to Gloucester Goes Retro, find out what is happening in the county this year
Last year will no doubt go down as one of the most chaotic in history, with three Prime Ministers and four Chancellors being in office at one time or another.
We also saw the end of the UK's longest reigning monarch with the sad death of The Queen. But, despite the country facing a lot of uncertainty with the cost of living crisis and many sectors striking for better pay and working conditions, there is still plenty to look forward to in 2023, especially here in Gloucestershire.
With this in mind, we have compiled a list of just some of the events that are set to take place during the next 12 months.
Gloucester Folk Trail

February 17 to 19
First arriving in the city in 2018, the Gloucester Folk Trail features folk musicians, artists and poets from around the county congregating in venues to pay homage to traditional forms of folk music, performance, entertainment, and arts and crafts.
Cheltenham Festival

March 14 to 17
The biggest four days in the jump racing calendar, Cheltenham welcomes thousands of people to the town each year. There will be 14 Grade One races across four seven-race cards as the best horses, trainers and jockeys go head to head. Expect to see plenty of champagne flowing and colourful hats on display throughout the festival.
Cheltenham Jazz Festival

April 26 to May 1
Cheltenham has become one of the country’s best-loved jazz festivals, home to over 20,000 music fans. Previous guests include Gregory Porter (who is now an Artistic curator of the Festival), Randy Crawford, Nubya Garcia, Kamasi Washington, Courtney Pine, Katie Melua, Paloma Faith, Hugh Laurie, Laura Mvula, Eartha Kitt, Caro Emerald, Corinne Bailey Rae, Imelda May, Soweto Kinch and Van Morrison.
