Inside the Central American grocer Tienda Guatemala, there is a tiny bakery in the very back of the store that sells fresh bread for only $1.
Through all the packed shelves of pantry goods, a small case has bags of bread, and just beyond that, rolling sheet pan racks with trays and trays of fresh bread.
I asked the staff what the names of the different breads were, and she told me, “Bread.” I bought three breads based purely on the look, and they were all delicious.
This was my favorite one. This bread had the texture and flavor of brioche with a delicious slightly sweet taste, and I loved the way it looked.
