Tilsiter Thyme Cubes With Rhubarb Compote
My favorite meal is the aperitif. I'm less of the "Batsch-here-is-a-big-main-course-and-it-is-good" person. I like the idea of lots of small bites and a few nice people around me, relaxed, animated, involved in nice conversations. Without anyone having to finish the main course now. As is common in mezze culture, for example. Or at the aperitif, which is never small for me and sometimes I just ONLY have an aperitif. A big. But what does that mean ONLY. I enjoy it very much.
These really great and crispy Tilsiter thyme cubes with rhubarb compote are intended for such moments. Pure enjoyment. Beautiful sunsets, an ice cold drink and lots of time.
Now the Tilsiter thyme cubes taste best lukewarm. Ideally, you do it like this: You prepare everything. Your whole aperitif, the drinks, you place the people and then you just put the Tilsiter thyme cubes (which you then of course also prepared) in the hot oil. The breading should be crispy and the cheese is only slightly melted. That's very quick.
I am sure you will love them. My daughter—who once announced in an official statement that she didn't like cheese—devoured the cubes before long. She even praised them and also expressed her astonishment, because she actually doesn't like cheese, she said, "but THESE CUBE HERE!!", she enthused slightly in a trance.
Now imagine how it feels for someone who likes cheese. - Exactly. It'll melt, a little like the cheese.
Regarding the breading, I would like to add that you can use normal breadcrumbs here. Or panko flour, which becomes even crunchier. And it's really easy with corn flakes. You can simply crumble them and enjoy the maximum crispiness.
I wish you a nice aperitif.
