Two vehicles that were stolen hours before exploded this Wednesday night in areas of Esmeraldas
Two cars exploded at almost the same time in two sectors of the city of Esmeraldas and alarmed its inhabitants at midnight on Wednesday the 18th.
The explosions occurred on Cristóbal Colón avenues between Batallón Montúfar and El Oro, in front of the Luis Vargas Torres educational unit. Also in Pedro Vicente Maldonado and Eugenio Espejo streets, entrance to the Santa Martha neighborhood, on the banks of the Esmeraldas River.
Videos on social networks of these events went viral during curfew hours and a state of emergency in Esmeraldas, Guayas and Manabí.

The gasoline stored in the cars and gas tanks for domestic use (LPG) were used by unknown individuals to blow up the two vehicles, according to Javier Buitrón, commander of Subzone 8.
The gas cylinder installed in the Chevrolet Sail did not explode, but it did cause damage to nearby homes. The two vehicles that carried out the executive service and the cooperated taxi were stolen and their drivers kidnapped at about 6:00 p.m. yesterday, the police chief added.
This information was disclosed by the owners of the vehicles to the police officers, after these events.
Daniel Moreira, from the Esmeraldas Fire Department, said that they received the emergency call from ECU911 and went to the two sectors to put out the fires, which did not initially go out with the early morning rain.
Police specialists from the Anti-Explosive Unit are investigating the event that left no personal victims. It is the first time this type of incident in the Esmeralda capital, using car bombs, but on this occasion apparently it was not directed at specific targets.
"It could be a show of force or threats from criminals, but we work to dismantle these groups and that a thousand of them were detained, as well as weapons seized," said Buitrón. Read More...
