USR will not form Alliances for Parliamentary and Presidential Elections
The Save Romania Union (USR) has announced that it will not form any electoral alliances for the upcoming December 1 parliamentary and presidential elections.
Despite engaging in negotiations with other right-wing parties, the USR, led by Elena Lasconi, found the demands of these parties to be "unreasonable and impossible to put into practice." Consequently, the USR has decided to go solo in the elections, aiming to offer an alternative to the current government.
Elena Lasconi, the USR President, emphasized that while the party made "reasonable proposals" during the negotiations, the results did not meet their expectations. Lasconi stated that the USR is determined to challenge the ruling coalition, which they accuse of corruption and poor governance.
The party also highlighted that Lasconi is currently the best-ranked right-wing candidate in the presidential elections, according to recent polls, and believes that multiple right-wing candidates could split the vote, ultimately benefiting the PSD candidates.
