Vietnam’s National Assembly set to elect new state president in October
Vietnam's National Assembly (NA) is set to elect a new state president during its session in October, as announced by NA General Secretary and NA Office Chairman Bui Van Cuong. This election will align with the Party Central Committee's resolution.
The announcement follows the successful 8th session of the 15th NA, where several key personnel were elected and approved with strong support.
Among those elected were three new deputy prime ministers: Nguyen Hoa Binh, Ho Duc Phoc, and Bui Thanh Son. Both Deputy Prime Ministers Phoc and Son will continue to hold their current ministerial positions in finance and foreign affairs, respectively, until replacements are approved.
The upcoming election is part of a broader plan by the Party Central Committee to fill high-ranking leadership roles and Party positions, which is expected to strengthen the Party's leadership across various sectors and prepare for the grassroots Party congresses leading up to the 14th National Party Congress in 2026.
