Vietnam Secures Spot in AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup Finals
Vietnam emerged victorious with a 3-0 triumph over Lebanon in the second qualifying round of the 2024 AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup, held in Phú Thọ on June 5. This resounding victory has guaranteed Vietnam's place in the upcoming finals.
Right from the start, the Vietnamese team took control of the game, presenting numerous challenges to their opponents and pushing Lebanon onto the defensive. Despite Vietnam creating several scoring opportunities, goalkeeper Selena Malaeb displayed an exceptional performance, preventing any early goals.
In the final minutes of the first half, striker Ngọc Minh Chuyên showcased her skill by evading three Lebanese defenders and finding the back of the net, opening the scoring for Vietnam.
During the 76th minute, captain Lê Thị Bảo Trâm successfully outplayed the Lebanese goalkeeper, capitalizing on Lê Thị Trang's close-range cross to double the hosts' lead. Just three minutes later, it was once again striker Chuyên who seized the opportunity, completing her brace by converting Trang's cross.
Prior to this match, Vietnam triumphed over Iran with a 3-2 victory.
Vietnam's next challenge will be against Australia on June 7, as they battle for the top spot in the group stage during the final match of the second qualifying round.
