Vietnamese Swimmers Continue to Excel at ASEAN Para Games
The remarkable performance of Vietnamese athletes at the 12th ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia continues to captivate audiences. On June 7, Vietnam's athletics team secured an impressive tally of eight additional gold medals.
Among the standout athletes, swimmer Trinh Thi Bich Nhu emerged victorious in two events, the women's Butterfly S6 and the 100-meter breaststroke SB5, showcasing her exceptional skills in the pool. Displaying remarkable prowess, Vietnamese swimmers added three more gold medals to their nation's collection in the men's 50m butterfly S8, men's 100m breaststroke SB5, and women's 100m breaststroke SB4.
The remaining three gold medals were claimed by outstanding athletes in various disciplines. Kieu Minh Trung excelled in the men's F55 javelin throw, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Thuy triumphed in the women's discus throw F54, and Dinh Thao Duyen demonstrated her expertise in the women's long jump.
As of 1pm on June 7, the Vietnamese sports delegation has accumulated an impressive total of 47 gold, 44 silver, and 65 bronze medals, solidifying their position as the third-ranking nation in the medal tally.
The Vietnamese sports delegation, comprising 164 members, including 122 athletes, is currently participating in eight out of the thirteen sports featured in the tournament. These sports include track-and-field, swimming, weightlifting, badminton, table tennis, chess, judo, and boccia.
