ALGIERS AGREEMENT- The program also provides for the resumption of work on the Taoussa dam and the Gao-Bourem-Taoussa road as well as that of Gao-Sévaré. The realization of these basic social projects will support regional economic development.

Indeed, the degradation of the Sévaré-Gao road was especially accelerated after the political and security events of March 2012, which impacted the continuation of maintenance works. After more than thirty years of operation, it was deemed necessary to rehabilitate it.

The rehabilitation of the Sévaré-Gao road remains a priority for the authorities, as it is included in the various development plans and the Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation resulting from the Algiers process. The overall objective of the project is to ensure internal and external opening up by increasing the level of service of the road in order to contribute to the economic growth of the country.

The development of Taoussa is a large-scale integrated rural development project based on the harmonious management of the natural resources of the Niger River basin at its mouth. It was presented to the signatories of the Peace and Reconciliation Agreement resulting from the Algiers process as the government's major contribution to the process of inclusion, a return to living together and the development of new prospects for the regions of north of our country. This dam is eagerly awaited by the populations who place a lot of hope in it for the improvement of their living conditions. Read More…
