Visit of the Prime Minister to Gao: A big boost for regional development
Launch of work on the Taoussa dam, the Gao-Bourem-Taoussa road, the Gao-Sévaré road, inauguration of the Gao performance hall... the program for Dr Choguel Kokalla Maïga's stay in the city of Askia provides for many activities
Prime Minister Choguel Kokalla Maïga is expected today in the city of Askia where he will carry out several activities until February 20. The head of government will have discussions with the regional authorities and will proceed with the delivery of food and agricultural equipment to the populations of Gao and the circles of Ansongo and Bourem. He will also announce the resumption of work on the Taoussa dam, the roads of Gao-Douentza, Gao-Bourem-Taoussa and the rehabilitation of the performance hall of the city of Gao. Dr Choguel Kokalla Maiga will also visit the university site, located in Berra, 7 km from Gao.
From this Friday, Dr. Choguel Kokalla Maïga and his delegation will take part in the great prayer at the Tombeau des Askia mosque. He will then proceed to the delivery of food and agricultural equipment to the populations and will exchange with the host communities of the site of the University of Gao, precisely in Béra, a locality located 7km from the city of Askia. The next day, the Prime Minister will go to Ansongo, where he will hand over food and agricultural equipment to the populations before visiting the camp of the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa). on his return to Gao, a meal is planned with the FAMa and a blessing session in the Kassé Kéita stadium.
On Sunday, the Prime Minister will proceed to Bourem with the delivery of food and agricultural equipment and will visit the FAMa camp. Dr. Choguel Kokalla Maïga will also lead a conference of executives in the room of the governorate of Gao.
ALGIERS AGREEMENT- The program also provides for the resumption of work on the Taoussa dam and the Gao-Bourem-Taoussa road as well as that of Gao-Sévaré. The realization of these basic social projects will support regional economic development.
Indeed, the degradation of the Sévaré-Gao road was especially accelerated after the political and security events of March 2012, which impacted the continuation of maintenance works. This road, which once constituted the umbilical cord between several regions of our country, is today in an advanced state of degradation. After more than thirty years of operation, it was deemed necessary to rehabilitate it.
The rehabilitation of the Sévaré-Gao road remains a priority for the authorities, as it is included in the various development plans and the Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation resulting from the Algiers process. The overall objective of the project is to ensure internal and external opening up by increasing the level of service of the road in order to contribute to the economic growth of the country.
The development of Taoussa is a large-scale integrated rural development project based on the harmonious management of the natural resources of the Niger River basin at its mouth. It was presented to the signatories of the Peace and Reconciliation Agreement resulting from the Algiers process as the government's major contribution to the process of inclusion, a return to living together and the development of new prospects for the regions of north of our country.
