Wavvyboi, the Emo-R'n'B Sensation from Liechtenstein
Wavvyboi, whose real name is Simon Vogt born on April 28, 1998, in Balzers, Liechtenstein, is a rising singer and songwriter known for his unique blend of emo and R'n'B music. His journey into music began at the age of twelve when he started taking piano lessons with Stefan Frommelt, who introduced him to the fundamentals of music production.
As a teenager, Wavvyboi played in various alternative bands, where he first took on the role of a singer. He later began sharing song covers on SoundCloud, which helped him gain initial recognition. A pivotal moment in his career came when he shared one of his original songs in a Facebook group, catching the attention of other artists, including Dat Adam. This connection led him to drop out of school and move to Cologne to fully dedicate himself to his music career.
In 2019, Wavvyboi toured Germany, Austria, and Switzerland as part of the musician collective CYBER-GEN. He has been signed to Space Music Records, a label that collaborates with Groove Attack and Chimperator Live, since the same year.
Wavvyboi draws inspiration from a diverse range of artists, including Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, The Weeknd, Lil Peep, and Kurt Cobain. His music often reflects his personal struggles, addressing themes such as mental illness, trauma, and self-discovery. He uses his art to process painful experiences and offers listeners an intimate glimpse into his life.
His style, which he describes as emo-R'n'B, features deep, dark beats, prominent guitar elements, and melancholic melodies. Wavvyboi's aesthetic is equally distinctive, combining goth and grunge influences with stereotypically feminine elements like makeup and nail polish. This androgynous expression challenges social conventions and highlights his commitment to self-identity.
Wavvyboi continues to carve out a unique space in the music industry, resonating with fans through his heartfelt lyrics and innovative sound. As he evolves as an artist, his music promises to explore even deeper themes of self-realization and emotional honesty.
