Breast cancer is the world's most prevalent cancer, according to the world Health Organisation (WHO). As recorded by the UN health agency, 2.3 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020, and the cancer led to 685 000 deaths globally the same year.
Sadly, about half of women who developed breast cancers have no identifiable risk factor, other than being female. According to WHO, there are certain factors that may increase a woman’s risk of developing breast cancer such as increasing age, obesity, tobacco use, alcohol use, family history, radiation exposure, reproductive history, and postmenopausal hormone therapy.
