Woodblocks Festival returns to Brussels for second edition
The Woodblocks Festival is returning to Brussels for its second edition, following a successful debut last year. Organized by Kiosk Radio, this year's festival will take place from September 6-8 in the scenic Royal Park, specifically at the open-air VauxHall Theatre, close to Kiosk's usual headquarters.
Kiosk Radio, which has been streaming a diverse array of music genres nonstop since 2017, is once again bringing a genre-bending lineup that reflects the eclectic offerings of its online community radio platform. The festival promises an exciting mix of alternative live acts and DJ sets throughout the weekend.
The event kicks off on Friday, September 6, from 18:00 to 23:00, in collaboration with the iconic Belgian label STROOM, known for uncovering hidden gems from the 1980s and '90s. Attendees can look forward to performances by Greek harpist and singer Sissi Rada, British rapper and producer Iceboy Violet, among others, setting the stage for an energetic weekend.
On Saturday, September 7, and Sunday, September 8, the festival will expand across two stages, offering concerts from the afternoon into the early evening, followed by DJ sets later in the night. The lineup features notable acts like South London dubstep pioneer Mala, avant-garde Dutch artist DJ Marcelle, enigmatic New York musician Bobby Beethoven, and Valentina Magaletti's new band, Holy Tongue.
Additionally, the festival will host performances by footwork producer Jlin, fresh off her collaboration with Björk, and Portuguese artists from the PRÍNCIPE O Ghettão label. In an effort to highlight local talent, Woodblocks Festival will also feature emerging Belgian acts like Daisy Ray, Belgian-Bolivian multi-instrumentalist Susobrino, and Brussels-based post-punk band Warm Exit.
The Woodblocks Festival is not just a celebration of diverse music genres but also a platform for shining a light on the vibrant local music scene in Belgium.
