Yogiyo and Neubility launch country's 1st self-driving robot delivery
Yogiyo, a leading food delivery service in South Korea, has launched the country's first autonomous delivery robot service, beginning operations in Incheon's Songdo area. This initiative is expected to address labor shortages in the delivery sector while boosting the efficiency of food delivery services.
The autonomous robots, developed in collaboration with Neubility, a Seoul-based company specializing in robotic services, can travel within a 1.2-kilometer radius of their designated restaurant. They have a top speed of 5.76 kilometers per hour and are designed to slow down when encountering people, obstacles, or narrow pathways. The service is free for restaurant owners and customers using the Yogiyo platform.
Yogiyo's Chief Technical Officer, Jang Soo-baek, highlighted the significance of this development, noting that it showcases the rapid advancements in autonomous robotic technology in South Korea. The company plans to extend this service to more areas beyond Songdo in the future.
Neubility, known for its extensive experience in autonomous robot testing, became the first in the food delivery industry to obtain a license for safe outdoor driving earlier this year. Neubility's CEO, Andrew Lee, expressed his satisfaction with bringing this practical and convenient technology to the public.
