Zambia claimed a dramatic late victory over Tunisia at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations to blow Group B at the tournament wide open.
At the Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca, Avell Chitundu scored the winner in the 92nd minute to give Zambia their first points of the tournament.
Ochumba Lubandji had earlier missed a penalty for the Copper Queens as they earned their first win of the tournament.
Tunisia had beaten Togo 4-1 in the opening round of group matches, but were unable to repeat that goalscoring form.
In the second of the double-header in Casablanca, Togo drew 1-1 with Cameroon, with both goals coming in a ten minute spell in the first half.
A penalty from Mafille Woedikou just before the half-hour mark gave Togo the lead, with Estelle Johnson levelling for Cameroon in the 38th minute.
Today’s results mean it is all to play for in Group B going into the final round of matches, with Zambia’s late win putting them top with four points.
Tunisia sit in second on three points, with Cameroon in third place on two points, and Togo getting off the mark as they moved on to one point. Read More...
