Zhenya Malakhova, former soloist of the popular Russian pop group Reflex and actress, has made her return to the music scene with her new single, "Because You Were Not There." The song marks a new chapter in her artistic journey, reuniting her with producer Slava Tyurin, with whom she collaborated for six years during her time with Reflex.
A Return to Musical Roots
Malakhova reflected on her time away from music:
"I walked away from music for a long time, acting in films, but eventually I realized that this is something I can't live without—and, most importantly, don’t want to live without."
Her return was strongly encouraged by friends and former collaborators, and when she reconnected with Tyurin, she felt it was the right moment to return to her musical roots.
"When Slava and I met, we realized that I had to come back to the stage with the material from the group I was a part of for six years."

However, fate intervened, causing Malakhova to postpone her comeback when she became pregnant with her second child.
"That became a special sign for me," Malakhova said. "My daughter Pavla, who is now three months old, really came as a miracle, changing all my plans and opening up motherhood to me from a new perspective."
In a touching gesture, Zhenya dedicates the single to her daughter, saying:
"This song is entirely for her—‘Pavla, because you weren't here.’ With her arrival in my life, amazing things began to happen, and I increasingly understand that everything happens at the right time with the right people."
