Cork Singer-Songwriter Cian Ducrot Among Winners at Grammy Awards
Cork singer-songwriter Cian Ducrot has achieved a milestone in his career by winning a Grammy Award for his role as a co-writer on the SZA song “Saturn.” The award ceremony took place in Los Angeles on Sunday night, where Ducrot, a native of Passage West, was present to celebrate this achievement.
Ducrot, along with his co-writers Rob Bisel, Jared Solomon, and Scott Zhang, received the Best R&B Song award, a category also known as the R&B Songwriter's Award. This prestigious award has been recognizing songwriting excellence since 1969, and at just 27 years old, Ducrot has made history as the first Irish person to win in this category. He joins an esteemed list of past winners that includes legends like Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Beyoncé, and Prince.
The song “Saturn” was released in February 2024 and quickly gained popularity, breaking into the Top 30 charts in Ireland, the UK, the US, and several other countries. In addition to his songwriting contributions, Ducrot also provided backing vocals for the track, further showcasing his talent.
Another notable mention from the Grammy Awards was Fontaines DC, who were nominated in the Best Rock Album category for their album “Romance.” However, they lost out to the legendary Rolling Stones for their record “Hackney Diamonds.”

Cian Ducrot's Grammy win marks a significant achievement not only for him personally but also for the Irish music scene, highlighting the growing influence of Irish artists on the global stage. With his talent and dedication, Ducrot is poised for continued success in the music industry.
