Google Maps leads women seeking abortions to pro-life clinics, investigation reveals

Google Maps has been leading British women seeking an abortion to fake clinics, a shocking investigation has revealed.
The investigation, by the Sunday Telegraph, found that women across the UK searching for abortion clinics are being directed to centres that try and persuade them not to have a termination.
These so-called ‘pregnancy crisis centres’ can be found across England, Scotland and Wales.
Many of these centres are linked to religious organisations, and give the impression that they offer terminations, when in reality they try to convince women otherwise.
The investigation suggests that these tactics may have come over to the UK from the US.
Speaking to the Telegraph, Katherine O’Brien, head of media and policy research at the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, said: “Pro-life organisations in the UK see what works in the US and then they adopt those tactics.
“I wouldn’t be surprised to see more of this activity taking place online because as we’ve seen, it has been very effective in America.
“They tell women completely inaccurate, scientific nonsense, that having an abortion will cause breast cancer, can lead to eating disorders, will leave them unable to love or look after their current children.”
Thankfully, Google says that it is addressing the issue.
A spokesperson said: “If someone believes a business on Google is misrepresenting itself or its services, they can report the listing for correction or removal. We address issues flagged for us as quickly as possible."
