Nate Bargatze to Host the 2025 Emmy Awards
Stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze is set to host the 77th Emmy Awards, taking place on September 14, 2025, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Known for his relatable humor and engaging storytelling, Bargatze has quickly become one of the most popular stand-up comedians in the industry.
Bargatze's selection as host comes at a time when the Emmys have struggled to find a consistent emcee. Previous hosts have included notable figures such as Eugene and Dan Levy, Anthony Anderson, Kenan Thompson, and Cedric the Entertainer. Cris Abrego, chair of the Television Academy, praised Bargatze, stating, “Nate is one of the hottest comics in the business with a remarkable and hilarious brand of comedy that deeply resonates with multi-generational audiences around the globe.”
While this will be Bargatze's first time emceeing a major awards show, he has made a name for himself with three successful Netflix specials, including his latest, “Your Friend, Nate Bargatze,” released in December. He has also hosted “Saturday Night Live,” showcasing his versatility and appeal. In 2024, he sold over 1.2 million tickets, according to Pollstar, making him the top-earning comedian of the year.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the opportunity, Bargatze said, “It’s a huge honor to be asked to host such an iconic awards show, and I’m beyond excited to work with CBS to create a night that can be enjoyed by families around the world.”
Last year's Emmy Awards, hosted by the Levy father-son duo, attracted an average of 6.87 million viewers, marking a 54% increase from the previous year, according to Nielsen. With Bargatze at the helm, there is anticipation that the 2025 ceremony will continue to build on this momentum and engage audiences with his unique comedic style.
Nate Bargatze's appointment as host of the 2025 Emmy Awards marks an exciting development for the ceremony. With his rising popularity and relatable humor, he is poised to bring a fresh and entertaining perspective to the event, making it a night to remember for viewers and nominees alike.
