Sir Elton John has been recognized as the UK's most generous celebrity, donating over £3,000 to charities every hour. With a fortune of £450 million, the iconic Rocket Man singer contributes £74,000 daily to causes he is passionate about, amounting to £3,082 an hour or £27 million annually.
This finding comes from a study by digital raffle platform Raffolux, which supports various charities. Sir Elton narrowly surpasses Harry Potter author JK Rowling, who donates £3,060 per hour, translating to £73,440 each day and approximately £26.8 million annually.
Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton ranks third, donating £1,255 an hour. However, the top charitable donor in the UK is investment banker Sir Chris Hohn. With an estimated fortune of £8 billion, Sir Chris donates an astonishing £68,595 per hour, which equates to £1.6 million daily or just over £600 million annually. His contributions are 22 times greater than those of Sir Elton.
Sir Elton John’s charitable donations focus on HIV/AIDS, the arts, music, and sports. A spokesperson for Raffolux noted, "Sir Elton John has been revealed as the most generous celebrity in the past year, donating just over £3,000 an hour to charities."
