A Poetic Journey Through Dreams, Love, and Pain: Husein Pajević's Author Evening
The Pljevlja Library recently hosted a captivating author’s evening for local poet Husein Pajević, showcasing his two poetry collections, "Ušće snova" (The Confluence of Dreams) and "Izvor nesanice" (The Source of Insomnia). The event, held in the warm and inviting reading room of the "Stevan Samardžić" National Library, drew a crowd eager to immerse themselves in the layered emotions and introspective themes of Pajević's work.
The evening commenced with remarks from Library Director Bojana Đačić, who expressed her delight in seeing the library come alive with the voices of local creators. She emphasized that Pajević's poetry transcends mere words, serving as a "window into the world of emotions." His verses, she noted, have the power to evoke feelings that often remain unexpressed, while his character radiates wisdom, humility, and nobility.
Husein Pajević, born in 1984 in Pljevlja, approached the audience with modesty, allowing his poetry to speak for itself. He expressed gratitude to those who supported the publication of his collections, dedicating both works to the person he affectionately refers to as the "mother of his poems."
In her introduction, Đačić highlighted the introspective nature of Pajević's work, particularly in "The Confluence of Dreams." This collection metaphorically represents the intersection of reality and fantasy, where the boundaries between waking life and dreams dissolve. Through this poetic symbiosis, Pajević reveals universal truths about the human experience and destiny.
Conversely, "The Source of Insomnia" delves into the complexities of love, portraying it as both a source of inspiration and pain. Đačić described insomnia as a symbol of the inner turmoil stemming from unrequited love, loss, and spiritual unrest. This collection captures the struggle of man against himself and the world, while also reflecting a yearning for reconciliation and personal growth.
Zora Jestrović, a reviewer of both collections, praised Pajević as an authentic lyrical creator who "does not invent verses, but lives them." She characterized his poetry as deeply humanistic, infused with love for his homeland, people, and life itself. Jestrović noted that Pajević's verses embody "the fire of youth and the philosophy of an old man," suggesting that the pain and suffering expressed in his work are not weaknesses but rather sources of profound creativity.
The evening featured readings of Pajević's verses by local poet Milica Ljiljanić, whose emotive delivery added a special touch to the event. Musical accompaniment by students from the Music School, Amara Celebić and Petra Krivaćević, further enriched the atmosphere, creating a harmonious blend of poetry and music.
Husein Pajević's author evening at the National Library was more than just a literary promotion; it was a celebration of the power of poetry to connect people, evoke emotions, and inspire reflection. Through his work, Pajević invites readers to embark on a journey through dreams, love, and pain, resonating quietly yet deeply within the hearts of those who encounter his verses. This event served as a reminder of the enduring impact of poetry in our lives, fostering a sense of community and shared experience among all who attended.
