Devon Cole debuts on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 with "I Got You"
Canadian singer Devon Cole has made her debut on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 this week with her latest single, "I Got You", landing at No. 99. The song, which has quickly become a radio hit since its release this summer, is a heartfelt ode to friendship. Featuring a breezy acoustic guitar riff and Cole's smooth vocals, the track resonates with fans, though Cole admits the song is more aspirational than reflective of her own experiences. She has described herself as historically not being the "best friend," despite having an amazing circle of friends.
Cole first gained widespread attention in 2022 with her viral hit "W.I.T.C.H.", which earned her a Juno nomination for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. While that song appeared on the U.S. and Canada Digital Song Sales charts, "I Got You" marks her first appearance on the Canadian Hot 100. After recently moving from Toronto to Los Angeles, Cole's career trajectory appears to be on the rise.
Also debuting on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 this week is U.K. rapper Ndotz, whose track "Embrace It" enters the chart at No. 72. The North London artist first went viral in 2021 with "Check", and his latest track has gained significant traction on TikTok. "Embrace It" combines fast-paced, distorted percussion with a catchy Latin guitar riff, adding to its popularity.
At the top of the Canadian Hot 100, Shaboozey's"A Bar Song (Tipsy)" continues its reign, holding the No. 1 spot for the 18th week, just one week shy of tying Lil Nas X's record. Meanwhile, on the Canadian Albums Chart, Sabrina Carpenter continues her dominance, notching her fifth week at No. 1.
Chappell Roan's Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess hits a new peak at No. 3, while Future's mixtape Pluto debuts at No. 4. Montreal-based musician Alex Henry Foster also makes a debut at No. 41 with his latest record, A Measure of Shape and Sound, following a strong No. 12 debut for his previous album Kimiyo earlier this year.
