Dhaka University expected to resume in last week of September
Dhaka University (DU) is expected to resume classes and academic activities in the last week of September, following a suspension that began on July 17 due to the nationwide Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. The decision to reopen is pending approval from the university's highest policymaking body, the Syndicate.
To prepare for the reopening, DU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan held a meeting on Sunday with key university officials, including deans of faculties, department chairpersons, institute directors, and heads of various offices. The meeting took place at the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban.
In attendance were DU Pro-VC (Administration) Prof. Dr. Sayema Haque Bidisha, Treasurer Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, and Acting Registrar Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmed.
The university administration has been working diligently to ensure security and discipline across its halls, departments, and institutes. Several view-exchange meetings between teachers and students have been organized to address concerns and prepare for the smooth resumption of academic activities.
