Frozen shoulder syndrome is a phenomenon that mainly occurs in people who have already had shoulder injuries, and it is very important to treat it in time.
The disease itself progresses through three stages, and it is necessary to notice the symptoms as soon as possible.
The main symptom is severe shoulder pain that interferes with your daily activities.
What is frozen shoulder syndrome?
A frozen shoulder is an injury that causes stiffness and pain in the shoulder, which greatly complicates the daily activities of the person facing the injury. The shoulder girdle or shoulder joint is made up of four bones: the upper arm, shoulder blade, clavicle and sternum.
The shoulder joint itself is surrounded by a joint capsule, which is a connective tissue that maintains joint stability and protects the shoulder from external influences. The joint capsule contains synovial fluid that serves to lubricate the shoulder joint during movement. When the secretion of this fluid is reduced, there is an increased friction of the periarticular tissue and, as a result, the tissue itself changes. Then the tissue becomes rigid, inelastic, changes its structure from connective to fibrous tissue.
In frozen shoulder syndrome, foreign connective tissue is formed inside and on the joint capsule itself. The resulting tissue growths are rigid and inelastic. These growths occupy the space inside the joint capsule reducing the mobility of the joint itself and in this case the shoulder joint freezes. These changes and inflammation often affect the surrounding tissues (tendons, ligaments, muscles...). Read More…
