Gărâna Jazz Festival is taking place between July 11-14
The Gărâna Jazz Festival is set to take place from Thursday, July 11, to Sunday, July 14, at Poiana Lupului and the Catholic Church in Văliug. The festival promises an exceptional lineup of performances spanning various jazz genres and featuring both international and local artists.
Day 1: Thursday, July 11
The main stage at Poiana Lupului will host three outstanding concerts:
- Christian McBride & Ursa Major - An acoustic jazz and fusion-funk performance led by the multiple Grammy award-winning Christian McBride.
- Tord Gustavsen Trio - Introspective jazz inspired by Scandinavian folklore, chorales, and gospel.
- Amiira (Klaus Gesing/ Björn Meyer/ Samuel Rohrer) - A daring avant-garde jazz performance with textures and rhythms influenced by world music.
Day 2: Friday, July 12
The festival kicks off at 11:00 a.m. at the Experimental Stage Empowered by #UniCreditBank at the Catholic Church in Văliug with:
- Mindthegap Trio - A fusion of jazz, progressive rock, and more.
- Cári Tibor Project - Sculpting Sounds - A blend of classical, electronic, jazz, and world music.
Starting at 6:00 p.m. in Poiana Lupului:
- Jonathan Kreisberg Quartet - Innovative North American jazz.
- Melt Trio - Avant-garde improvisations from Berlin.
- Mats Eilertsen Trio and Helge Lien Trio & Tore Brunborg - Exploratory Norwegian jazz creating fascinating musical landscapes.
Day 3: Saturday, July 13
At 11:00 a.m., the Experimental Stage in Văliug features:
- Sian Brie (Romanian guitarist) with an international project
- Barabás Lőrinc (Hungarian trumpeter) solo concert
From 6:00 p.m. in Poiana Lupului:
- Dixie Krauser & The Fusion Company
- Ariel Brínguez Quintet - Nostalgia Cubana - Jazz with Cuban infusions.
- Girls in Airports - Jazz with indie-rock influences.
- 30 Years of est Tribute Project - A tribute to the Esbjörn Svensson Trio with Magnus Öström, Dan Berglund, Ulf Wakenius, Joel Lyssarides, Marius Neset, and Verneri Pohjola.
Day 4: Sunday, July 14
The final day begins at 11:00 a.m. with performances at the Catholic Church in Văliug:
- Nonconformist Anthology - Fusion jazz with complex arrangements and original compositions.
- Amphitrio - Contemporary Nordic jazz and Balkan-oriental influences.
From 6:00 p.m. in Poiana Lupului:
- Wojtek Pilichowski Quartet - Legendary jazz performances.
- Gianluca Mosole Quintet - Fascinating jazz ensemble.
- Kinga Głyk Band - Led by the young Polish bass star.
- Airelle Besson Quartet - Featuring the Victoires du Jazz laureate and Django Reinhardt awardee.
