This situation risks rekindling tensions between teachers and the government because trade unionists are warning about such a process.
The general secretary of the independent secondary school teachers' union (Saems) denounces the state's way of doing things. For Saourou Sène, the punctures had to be done during the teachers' strike. Wage deductions are a deterrent to strike action, he says.
According to Abdoulaye Ndoye, the secretary general of the unitary framework of secondary middle unions (Cusems), the state is in provocation. The punctures are, in fact, carried out after the signing of the memorandum of understanding and the suspension of the strike slogan .
Trade unionists warn. They will hold the State of Senegal responsible for any disruption resulting from this context.
Mouhamadou Moustapha Diagne, the spokesperson for the Ministry of National Education, previously explained that the deductions from the salaries of civil servant teachers are made for the sake of justice and equity.
