Health Minister to drop the Mandatory Isolation and Quarantine for People Sick with COVID-19
Dr. Asen Medzhidiev, the Minister of Health, is set to introduce revisions to the Health Law with the aim of eliminating the compulsory isolation for individuals diagnosed with COVID-19, as well as the obligatory quarantine for their close contacts.
In a significant development, the World Health Organization (WHO) officially ended the declaration of Public Health Emergency of International Concern associated with COVID-19 on May 5.
Following a comprehensive assessment of the pandemic situation in Bulgaria, considering the relatively low infection rates, hospitalization cases, and fatalities, the Ministry of Health's experts have unanimously agreed that a legislative amendment should be proposed. This amendment would allow for the discontinuation of the current mandatory isolation and quarantine protocols for COVID-19 cases.
